"...since the breakaway is such a high profile situation, we need
to provide goaltenders with something that works better than "guessing",
which unfortunately, is what most goaltenders chose to do. A dominant
save in a breakaway, penalty shot or shoot-out situation can instantly
turn the momentum of a game around if not actually win the game.
And believe it or not, the shooters give away everything the goalie
needs to know in order to make the save. The best part is that
most shooters don't even know that they are doing this. But you
can't take advantage of it unless you know exactly what to look
for. In the Breakaway segment of the summer programs we present
the specific timing, positioning, movement, coordination, and
recovery factors involved in giving the goaltender absolute control over any breakaway situation at any level of competition. I will
take the goaltender through each step, break it down, and demonstrate
how to practice the techniques properly. The goalie will also
be taught, regardless of their level of competition, how to practice
on their own, the areas most important to their individual success
both on and off the ice."
